There is plenty of dry walling in Majorca and Minorca.
Minorca: low, wider partition wallls i mainly due
to excess of stone and absense of mountains, basic rustic
technique without much adjusting.
Majorca: Retaining walls at the mountain ( Tramuntana
sierra) and partition low walls at the rest of the island.
Very fine adjusted work along with rustic, plain farmers
work.
Majorca suggestions:
Due to the variety of approaches, we propose some general
ideas depending of what are you searching for. Let`s
say you come from a part of your country that is hilly,
with dark stone. Then we reccomend you to visit the
Tramuntana villages ( soller, valldemosa, deia, lluc,
escorca...)
On the other side, if you come from flatlands and
are looking for low partition walls, then you'd better
concentrate on the Raiguer ( centre of island) Santa
Maria, Sencelles, Santa Eugeni...
If you come from a place with light stone ( not
dark) your choice should be the Mitjorn ( South-east)
Lluchmajor, Campos, Santanyí...
If you work mainly for urban clients, you'd better
visit residencial areas with different approaches of
design or compotion. Plenty of choices for everyone.

Dry stone + landscaping excursions not to be missed:
Santa Maria- Son Borreó- Son Pou- Alaró
( 3-4 hours)
Begin with a 10 minutes visit to Santa Maria's Town
Hall, a cosy stone building or circa 1650 and the nearby
barroque church. Then ahead for the Bodegas Maciá
Batle, a modern stone wine cellar. Then to Son Borreó
urbanization with examples of urban low walls enclosing
gardens.
Next comes the Son Pou road, a winding quiet road with
a lot of stone walls and some impressive, discreet manor
houses ( possessions) until you arrive to the mountain.
At one point you turn right for Alaró and visit
the plaza ( Town hall with arches) and the upper part
of the village with nice stone houses. Finally you return
via Consell , Just 2 km from Santa Maria.
..............................................................................
Valldemossa- Deia ( 3-4 hours)
A "Must" if you like retaining walls. With
"Sa Calobra" road, one of the best thematic
visits.
................................................................................
Alfabia- Soller- Fornalutx
Alfabia gardens, near Bunyola and then take the old
winding road to Soller. At Soller go to Fornalutx a
nearby small village entirely made of stone and return
to Soller. Visit the town ( modenist church, Train Station...)
and return by the new road through the tunnel. The other
passangers of the car can return with the wood train
to Bunyola where you pick them again.
